Installing NHM Writer
1. Download the software and install it as usual.
2. The software will prompt for a system restart to modify the regional settings.
3. The default option is that NHM Writer will be starting along with the Windows OS.
Writing using NHM Writer.
You can find the NHM Writer in a gray bell icon t your status bar. Right clicking it will give further settings options, Keyboard preview and a left click will enable the keyboard layout for typing. General Typing using NHM Writer- Alt+1 - Enable Tamil 99 Unicode
- Alt+2 - Enables Tamil Phonetic Unicode
- Alt+3 - Enables Tamil OldTypewriter Unocode
- Alt+4 - ENables Tamil Bhamani Unicode
I don't know the keyboard layout for typing in Alt+1, Alt+3, Alt+4. Tamil Phonetic Unicode is suited for transliteration, so that you can type the words in english font itself. So my experience / this tutorial will be limited to option Alt+2 only.

How to write:-1. First place the cursor in the application where you want to type. Then left click the 'gray bell icon' and enable the 'Tamil phonetic Code'. Alternatively you can use 'Alt+2' to evoke the Tamil phonetic thing.
2. Type as usual. Please see the following videos for typing in various applications like Google Talk, Internet, Wordpad and MS WOrd.
3. Only care that has to be taken while using notepad is that you choose 'Unicode' instead of 'ANSI' while saving the file. Else all your efforts will be spoiled with garbled fonts. Thats it.

Using NHM Convertor:-{mosimage}Why we need NHM COnvertor? Infact NHM Convertor is an optional tool, which you can use to convert the 'garbled fonts' to readable Unicode format. Before Windows XP that supported the Unicode format, the applications needed specific language fonts to be installed in the recipient system. Else the recipient cannot be able to read the output. So may websites started using 'Dynamic fonts' concept e.g kumudam.com / vikatan.com, which is out of our scope now. Such contents can be read in the browser but can't be copied and pasted to other applications, similarly the contents of Tamil docments in MS Word cannot be copied and pasted in blogsites. Thats were the NHM Unicode convertor comes into the picture.
